World Cup 2026 House Competition
Over the past few weeks, we have been getting into the football spirit by supporting different teams in the World Cup 2026. A draw was held, and each house was allocated a different country to support. Everyone embraced the challenge, transforming their homes and areas with football-themed decorations inspired by their chosen nation.
On Friday 19th June, our judges, Richard and Penny, visited each house to see the incredible displays. Richard previously worked for Plymouth Argyle Football Club as their Disability Officer, and Penny is our Intensive Interaction Co-ordinator. They had the difficult task of choosing the winners from a fantastic range of entries.
Every house looked amazing, with colourful flags, balloons, artwork, and decorations created by the people we support. There were also some wonderful cultural touches, including beautiful Croatian flowers to support Croatia and a delicious Moroccan meal of Tagine.
The competition was extremely close, but after much deliberation, the winners were announced:
🥇 1st Place – Rosewood House (Brazil)
Rosewood House took first place with their outstanding Brazilian-themed display. The team spent a great deal of time creating and crafting flags, artwork, and decorations. Their hard work and creativity shone through, and the display looked absolutely fantastic.
🥈 2nd Place – Bowden House (Colombia)
Bowden House celebrated Colombia in style, hosting a party complete with Colombian coffee and plenty of football-themed artwork. Their enthusiasm and attention to detail impressed the judges and earned them second place.
🥉 3rd Place – Number 18 (Uruguay)
Number 18 showcased their support for Uruguay with delicious Uruguayan sandwiches, lots of flags, balloons, and creative artwork. Their display also included interesting facts about both the country and the football team, making it informative as well as visually impressive.
All of the winners received vouchers for the local shop, Three Cows on’t Green, in Polyphant.
A huge well done to everyone who took part. The effort, creativity, and teamwork shown across all the houses were incredible, and it was wonderful to see everyone getting involved. The displays looked amazing and created a fantastic World Cup atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.
